Default Question About Y-Pipe

I was talking to my cousin the other day and hes the one I go to for hook ups for my mustang since he use to have a sn95 before. My question is was when I was talking to him I told him I wanted to go dual exhaust and which pipe should i do X or H. He was telling me theres no point into doing an X or an H cuz im only pushing a v6... He told me to just get another flowmaster 40 and buy some pipping that would split my pipe from the catyltic converter to add another exhaust.

he's right as long as you stay N/A. i like the fact that i have true duals and in contrary to what others have said about true duals losing in the low end, i haven't noticed a thing. if anything, i feel a bit more pull in the high end. but if you stay N/A or have no urge for true dual, y-pipe should do just fine.

one more thing: h-pipe setup is known for having the best sound (beefier tone) of the three. not a BIG difference but enough to notice. if you are picky with the sound, then you may want to do some more research of each setup so that you get exactly what you want the first time.

The factory y-pipe has a catalytic converter on each side of the motor coming off each exhaust manifold. You can cut the y-pipe after the cats to set up your duals. MyGT x-pipe is mounted to the cut-off factory y-pipe.
