91 Octane
The octane rating and engine knock and timing are all interelated to each other.
Low octane and wrong timing can cause engine knocking. Ford designed
the engine with knock sensors and variable electronictiming. Using too low
of an octaine fuel causes engine knock out of the range of the PCMs timing
adjustment range and knocking will occure. Use the right (87) octaine and the
PCM can adjust the timing enough to eliminate engine knock. Using a higher
octaine fuel does nothing for you with a stock tune and its like throwing a dollar
out the window everyone in a while. So Ford must be GOD with all this going on.

You will get better fuel economy using the higher grade fuel. Although when you do the math it pretty much comes out to the same amount on the wallet in the end with a stock tune. The reason that Ford, and others, recommend 87 grade is because of the emissions systems. The extra octane on stock tune will eventually burn out the O2 sensors, but it would take a while. Its all in the tune.
I agree with everyone else-Higher octane on a stock engine with stock tune does nothing. get a cai/tune and you're can run any octane you want (with the correct tune, of course) and see the benefits
