Default Ebay CAI?

I am looking to do my first mod, I know with my 04 mustang the ebay CAI was fine. But on this one im not sure. I want to save as much as possible. Also will the tuner I buy have the tune for my CAI on it?

keep in mind, aftermarket does not always mean better, sometimes it can be worst.

from what i've seen here on the forums is the most bang you can get out for any of your modifications can be acheived through tuning... common sense right? it's the route I'll eventually be going. I bought a JLT intake off of ebay that's just waiting to be thrown in, but I know that it needs a tune, so I'm going to wait until I get the tuner to do it all. JMO

Be weary of imitation parts from e-bay! at least thats what Im always told. Check out http://brenspeed.com/The have the C&L XCAL2 package thats not too expensive and have been getting good reviews from the posts that I read here at the forum.

I would go for the VMP intake and tuner package. VMP is arguably the best tuner for the 4.0 V6 Mustangs, Justin's, the owner's, wife actually owns a 06 V6 Mustang. His deal is the best also.

Considering the Xcal3 is $400, you are basically getting the intake for $50:

That seems like a pretty good deal, but I have a few questions.

It says it disables traction control? I already have a button that does that, and I need my traction control, there is snow everywhere right now and the mustang is my DD.

Also, if I get, for instance, a 92 octane perf tune- what happens if for some reason I have to put 89 octane in it? Or if i get a 87 tune and put 89 in it?

Thanks guys!

You risk engine damage. You want to make sure you can always use the proper grade of fuel. If for some reason 92 is not always available to you, you should get an 87 tune. Run the 92 tune when you have 92 available, and run the 87 when you cant get the good stuff. It is really easy to change tunes, it takes only a few minutes, every possible to do at a gas station.

You should probably just give him a call and order them over the phone. On my tuner, I know you can turn it on and off, so I bet you can just it by hand like that. It seems a little complex, but once you are doing it, it is pretty straight forward.

Ebay + aftermarket brand CAI = the suck...

Why not choose from the list of sponsors and get a sweet discount on a CAI + Tune package off of one of their websites? It's safer, probably quicker, and 100% sure it'd be one of the biggest improvements to your car besides going F/I or new gears and rear.
