what kind of torque can i expect out of a centri s/c at 10 psi? would custom cams make a difference? thanks for any help.

Do you mean low end torque or peak? If your looking for low end torque go with the x-charger for a similar price b/c vortech's don't add any power to your car below 3k rpm(spooling?). For peak torque, it will be probably very close to your peak hp not.

i realize that if i want wayy low end torque then i need a roots type. but im just wondering compared to a turbo (full boostby 3k) what kind of #s i should expect. i know i should go turbo for torque, but i dont want to disturb my exhaust. so im wondering if the #'s are that different between a turbo and a centri.

Its funny you say that about the exhaust. Im looking at the same thing because i dont like how with turbo you dont have "true duals"

I think I know what you mean. I'll explain it the way I know it for you:
-X-charger-full boost 2.2k rpm(or something close to that)
-Turbo 3k rpm
-Centri(vortech or procharger)-redline or higher if youwanna push it

If you want to go the centri route, you'll have the least low end, most people who buy the centri's go for 3.73 gears or higher b/c it's pretty much necessary make your peak power useful. If your going for a track car get the turbo(best all around performer and not running off a pulley, so it makes a lot more power). Street car(tons of low-end you want, unless your a highway racer and go upwards of 100mph) 4.10's, t-lok(or stronger if you like to launch hard),rear upper and lower control arms, stickysummertires(probably nittos, Drag Radials are legal and your best bet if you want tons of traction), single outlet hi-flow muffler, shorty headers(probably will help low end since lt's are for highend hp)and the intercooled x-charger(dyno tuned)which I here should be out in a couple months tops. If they come out with a 11psi pulley or higher for the x(they probably will), you can see some x-charger's withstreet usable350rwtorque+ and similarrwhp #'s easily.I don't know aboutyou, but that would be pretty bad ***. Not sure how far you wanna go with this, but if you feel the need for more speed, heads, and cam(tuned for street) willgive you a monster street machine.

What? Here's a good thread to look at (kinda turns into a pissing match but lots of good info) there's a vortech @ 7psi and 10psi dyno on pg 7

i believe the vortech is at full boost at 1.9k. just what ive seen. and i know its a torque monster, but i just wanna know if i can get similar numbers (and bigger topend) somehow with a centri. why i asked if custom heads/cams would help.

Vortech is definitely NOT at full boost at 1.9K... in fact Vortech, like all centris, will keep making MORE boost as the RPM's increase!

Here's an old dyno sheet.. 10 PSI...

This graph shows the boost keeps going up as the RPMs climb (although the graph show MPH, you know the RPMs are going up too!)

Not true! I am making boost a 2500 rpms and my tq is about 275 at 4000 rpms!
