Default touch screen dvds

has anyone put in a double din dvd system to replace the shaker head unit. im looking at some but dont know which are good... i wanted to avoid the motorized screens bc thats just more parts to break but it looks like thats all that they come in ... ive looked at the panasonic cq vd6505u and the boss bv9250. im looking to spend less than 500, install myself (im good at that), and want it to be ipod compatible... it seems to me like the boss wasnt ipod ready and the panasonic just needed a cord. thanks guys.. pics would also be nice

I dont have a pic but are you wanting one that doesnt move at all id recommend one that hides the dvd/cd in put plus with those you can adjust tilt where you can actually see the screen

I have the pioneer Avic z-1. Works great and looks good too. I think it's about the 500 dollar range though.

Plenty of guys have double DIN headunits here. Pioneer AVIC-D3 is another popular one. I believe dmhines has one, so does nonstopred...

If I had an extra grand to blow, it'd be done, but I don't so my touch-screen will have to wait for now.

The popular one around the forums is the Pioneer AVIC-D2 (or D3 now, which is the upgraded model.)

Personally I don't really like the single-DIN motorized screens, because you have to put a cubby or whatever to fill that hole, which looks kinda dumb and not clean. The double-DINs cost quite a bit more, but they look a lot cleaner overall and I would say are worth it.

Pioneer, Kenwood, Eclipse are the double-DINs I've heard the best things about (especially Pioneer on here), so perhaps just shop around a bit, visit your local Best Buy or whatever and see how they look and what the features/cost are, should be able to figure out what you want to go with.

Good luck! Should be pretty sweet when it's all done...

If your goal is sound quality and not just to have every feature on the planet go with the Eclipse. Far superior sound quality to the Pioneer Avic-D2 or D3.

You can hook up a T.V. tuner to the AVICs but rarely can you pick up any stations. Kinda a waste of money.
