remote keyless entry
hey guys my i just got my mustang about october of 2007 and my remote for my car just stopped working....it happened to me about a month after i got my car but after a couple of minutes it worked again...now its just dead....i called ford it could be something wrong with the wiring in my car or something but if thats the case my backup remote shouldnt work...so i tried my backup remote and it works just fine...so would that mean my remote is defective or needs a new battery only??? the reason why im asking is cuz ford said theyl need the car for hald the day to do tests and stuff and id rather not have to pay and rent a courtesy car when i can just sit there for an hour and wait if theres no major problem
I don't see how it could be the battery, those things are supposed to last forever. That is assuming that it wasn't a dud when it was made. I don't think it would take that long for them to do, but more likely than not, they'll probably try to get you to buy a new one.
just get them to replace the remote and reprogram it to ur car.
in order to do that you get all the key fobs you have in one place, then put your key in the ignition. turn in forwards (not to start, just to ON) 8 times, each time turning it back to off quickly. On the 8th time, leave the key facing ON and the car will make a beep noise.
(Oh, make sure your doors are closed and ur feet are off the pedals the whole time.)
after the car makes the beep, hit any key on ur first fob. you will hear a beep. then hit any key on the next fob. another beep. keep hitting one button on each fob (until you run out of fobs). then just turn the ignition off and they will be programmed.
easyyy
if the one you have doesnt work, just ask ford for a new one and program it like this yourself.
if you dont get my description, use FORDS.. in your manual.. page 95 or somethin.
peace,

They dont last "a lifetime" like most think.
The range is so much better than 1st gen
remotes and this is due to higher power outputs
that eats up batteries faster than days gone past.
Take it to autozone and use their checker
for RF and IR remotes. Its free and they also
have the batteries if yours is dead. They
will also put it in for you. Or the owners
manual shows you how to replace the battery
with a coin as a tool.
