Default X or H pipe?

I'm about to change my exhaust setup, but i'm not sure which direction to go.

I currently have the dual Magnaflow system, and I'm probably change to the Flowmaster American Thunders or the FRPPs, but i'm not sure if I want to go H pipe or X pipe.

What has proved to produce better sounds? I'm aware of the FRPP setup with the X-pipe and love that sound, but would like to know how the H pipe has worked out.

Thanks,
will

H-pipe has a nicer deeper tone. If you don't get the FRPP, you might want to try a JBA H-pipe and midpipes paired up with some GTA mufflers or whatever you want.

so the h-pipe sounds better on the 6 than the x?

wouldan h pipechange the tone of the FRPP v6 system pretty drasitcally?

i just want the best tone i can get and i'm pretty much decided on the American Thunders or the FRPPs after hearing them both repeatedly

alloy, do you have a sound clip of your setup?

Yes the h-pipe sounds better. I'm not sure what it would do to the FRPP since it's already a great system, but I think someone one here has the H-pipe with GTA mufflers. I don't have a sound clip of my car, but here's a Stang with the same setup(JBA H/Borla Stingers):

*EDIT* here's a clip of the JBA H with GTA mufflers, keep in mind he also has JBA headers: http://youtube.com/watch?v=96a6twjmK...eature=related

i honestly think the tone difference is not very significant. i'm sure its noticeable but not major.

H for a deeper throatier tone.

X for a less deep throaty tone (but with a tad better performance).

if your primary reason for exhaust is sound and looks, the H will be great. If your primary is performance and looks, the X will be great. i think we're only talking 2-3 hp difference (nothing significant). either way its a no-lose situation. my setup is GREAT! good luck with yours.

ok thanks... anyone know where i can buy just the FRPP mufflers? I dont need the whole system, as i already have a dual setup, i just need an H-pipe and two mufflers

also, i know rygen had a setup with the magnaflow x pipe and Flowmaster American Thunders, so would those sound as good as the FRPPs with an H-pipe?
.......if anyone knows for sure that is, but speculation is also welcome ha

I heard X pypes hurt your gas mileage so how could they improve performance.

But how can you get dual exhuast without a X or H pype ?

how do they hurt mpg?[>:]....please inform.

if anything, they should help mpg since its less engine stress. only thing that could be hurt is the low end power but that will be balanced out with a gain in the high end. also, this is only if your still running factory tune.

I don't know where you heard it, because if it were true many of us wouldn't have had it done.
I asked a professional muffler shop before Iordered mine, would having duals effect my gas mileage and his answer was, "it will make the gas mileage better because the engine is able to breathe better."

Last I checked, I got 24 mpg in mostly city driving.
