harmonic Balancer

has anyone herd of or had problem with harmonic Balancer on 05 v6 failing

ok here some more info my wife told me her 05 (v6)has been making a chirping noise from motor when cold , today she told me it as doing it all the time now so when i waschecking the belt i notice a small pice of rubber on the harmonic Balancer so i marked the two half and started the car ran the car for about a min. the two marks were now 180 apart , this car has 50,000 miles on it,if it would have come apart i would be changing more then just a harmonic Balancerso yall need to check yours harmonic Balancer

Sounds more like the belt is slipping.

start with the easy.. Get a new belt, your one sounds like its stretching when its hot. When the belt is off check the allignment of the harmonic balancer, i.e. if it feels loose or if you notice an imperfection in it. If it is loose try tightening it but if thats not working its time for a new one

If the inner hub and outer ring have moved 180 degrees apart, then we may all have a problem in the making. Slipping of the inertia ring is not a good thing. Thanks for the heads up, I'll be marking mine immediately.

yea i was trying to warn people of a problem and you tell me to check my belt when the harmonic Balancer is coming apart if yall dont want warning i am sorry
