Default Additional Upgrades Needed for 400RWHP PH Turbo?

Hey all, a newbie here and I am considering the PH turbo for my poonstang! From what I have read, obtaining 400rwhp with the PH turbo on our stock 4.0 engines is realistic and as safe as can be expected for a FI'd engine. My question is, what stock items need to be upgraded to handle that much power (PH Turbo with 11psi)? Will I need to upgrade my transmission and rear axel? Anything else? I know I will need new suspension items to put the power to the pavement and upgrading the gears and getting a t-loc is a must, but what else will be needed so that I don't spread parts and metal down the road? As of right now, all I have is the JBA true dual exhaust with H-pipe.

From what I have read famz, Buckman and Rygen seem to be the subject matter experts here, so if you all read this, what would be your recommendations for the absolute essentials needed.

My goal is to have a fast DD. I doubt that I will spend much, if any, time at the track. I just what to have one fast mustang that will punish most any numbnut that funny-looks me at the stoplight!

Thanks in advance all!

I would say upgrade to a 8.8 rear end instead of our 7.5. Also get 3.73 gears at the same time. Get a 1 piece driveshaft. I dont think you would need to get forged internals but if you have the money I would... Also if you have that much HP you might as well get new shocks etc... CAI and Tune is necessary

If you get a turbo a CAI and Tune is not on the list. The turbo setup will have to get tuned of course.

As for upgrades I would go with a 8.8 rear end with 3.73s, an aluminum driveshaft/safety loop, and LCAs. You would be good at that point.

yeah go with full suspension, like the eibach pro kit, tokicko d specs, lcas, etc

and then for the exhaust, with a turbo i am pretty sure you have to use a Y pipe. so you will have to change your exhaust a little

but i recommend also getting shorty headers, 1 piece aluminum driveshaft, and i second getting an 8.8 rearend with 3.73s

I run the factory shocks springs and struts. Not necessary to upgrade. I do run the 8.8 rear and even that tlok unit gave out. I have the aftermarket driveshaft too

Most folks seem to be on the same page here with the advice.
At the bare minimum I would break down and get the 8.8 rear with the gears of your choice. Fazm runs stock 3.31 gears, Rygen and I both ran 3.73 gears. Whichever gear you choose just be aware of what size tire you plan on running as well. I can't help you with the trans as it looks like you are a manual and I ran an auto, maybe Fazm can help you out there as he has had his issues with the t5.
Alum. driveshaft w/ loop is a great investment. Lower control arms are a must in my book. All the rest are complementary pieces as far as I am concerned. Shorties gave me about 14rwhp/15 ft/lbs tq when running 13lbs of boost. Stock shocks and springs are decent even though I did have the Eibach Pro-Kit springs.
Anything past 11psi and you should look into shimming your valve springs. Also past that point you may run into fuel issues.
Also, I ran a Dynojet Wideband Commander for my air/fuel and had an Autometer boost gauge. They are the only two gauges I have in the car. Spend the money and get a wideband, not a narrowband.
As far as exhaust, yes the PH kit uses a custom Y pipe. The only thing you will need are mufflers. In my opinion it is ridiculously hard to get the 4.0 to sound good and one of the cheapest and best sounding mufflers for these cars was simply to grab a set of GT takeoffs.
Also, I would call Mike or Brett at PowerHouse and get their input as well.
Hope that helps.

Edit: Whatever you do, get it tuned right by a reputable shop. Ask around your local mustang clubs or call performance shops to get a feel of who is good in your area. Also ask PowerHouse if they know anyone in your area. PowerHouse will set you up with a tune to get started, but it will be a conservative, rich tune, so spend the money and do your research to find the absolute best shop around. This is an investment for the car and a critical choice.
