Default V6 tranny compatible with V8?

No, I don't need a V6 compatible transvestite.

I'm just wondering if I could use a V8 Manual trans on a V6 motor. I found a good price for one brand new ($700) and I don't want it laying around the shop for a long time before I put my V8 in.

Also, when I get my V8 (5.4L SVT ) will the stock V8 trans be able to handle that power?

I think both models use the same transmission, T-5. Correct me if I'm wrong though..

I think your right on that, I just needed some confirmation.

Anyone know how hard it is to go from a auto to a stick? Any tutorials out there?

From what I hear, it isn't worth doing a swap. Too many parts/work and probably lost of issues later if you do switch. You might as well swap your stang for an auto or find a better tranny

Well if its a manual it is possible it will work, the only problem I forsee is you will have to swtich the bell housing off of your V6 Trans to the V8 Trans.

As for going from a Auto to Manual, there are many people who have dont it, I dont think its to hard but I would leave it to a professional, plus you will have to reprogram your comp.

I dont think that a stock GT trans will hold and SVT motor first I dont know if it will fit, second. That thing will proably bust in a matter of weeks or a few trips to the track if you are lucky

I don't think an SVT is going to get along too well with a stock T-5, but that's just my opinion.

Haha, I already knew the answer.

The SVT motor will fit, its the new 2008 edition. I guess I'm gonna have to get a new Tremtec trans, damnit I didn't feel like spending $2500 on top of the $15G of the engine. Well I guess for a race car you get what you pay for.

False information above, the GT does not use the T-5 manual tranny. However, both v6 and GT use the same auto tranny, the 5R55S, with just a different input shaft. Someone over on the other forum has done a TR3650 swap into the v6, but it requires some custom adapting that said person has designed.

don't think they allow linking to the other forum here, but the dude's handle is Nice Pony. Hope he doesn't mind me throwing his name around.
