Default JBA H-pipe midpipe conversion kit Issues

So I got the JBA Stainless Steel H Pipe and Midpipes - 05 + V6 from V6mustangstuff and took it over to Midas to get it installed. I know a bunch of you guys have this midpipe setup so I thought it would work fine.

Once I got to Midas, they checked to see if I have all the necessary parts, and I did. But they said that this was NOT a direct bolt-on setup and required some cutting of the factory y pipe and some more precise cuts, totaling a labor time of 5 HOURS...$450. And I am aware it does require some cutting of the factory pipes. I thought the time/cost was absolutely ridiculous since this exhaust system was made for V6's and I have heard it doesnt take that long and shouldnt cost more than $200. Am I wrong? Did I buy the wrong set up?

i bought the same exact setup from v6mustangstuff.com and i had the same problem. i took it to a proffessional muffler shop and had it cut and installed and all that jazz for about $250. However my right muffler occationally rattles so i am going to end up taking it back and see whats loose. sorry they charged you so much.

i have the jba hpipe (not stainless) installed on my car. Did the install myself. You have to cut the original y pipe, other than that, bolts right up. took me about 3 hours with just jackstands...

I had it installed by a shop with my mufflers in an hour and a half for $100. $450 is rediculous...

If you have the tools, and some patience, I'm sure you could carefully install the h-pipe system yourself.

The hardest part is aligning everything so nothing sticks down too far, and so the ends of the muffler tips are aligned vertically from the back, and aligned top-down (both sticking out past the bumper the same amount).

I did my original install in about 4 hours, and then over the next few months spent around 2-3 hours extra rearranging and aligning things so that my Stingers are pretty close to being perfect. Almost there

They're trying to rip you off, plain and simple. When I had my JBA H-pipe system installed, I also had the shop install my GT rear bumper cover, and I paid $100 less than they want to charge you just for the exhaust. Shop around, you'll find a better price elsewhere I'm sure.

My JBA over-axle pipes were actually bent incorrectly from the factory and would have cost god knows how much to have the muffler shop straighten them out. The shop manager told me they would just have to bill me by the hour and couldn't give me a pre-determined kit, but he figured it would probably be $800-$900 to fix them, and even then they might not be perfect.

So... I don't really have anything good to say about JBA build quality. I had them on for about a week (tried installing them at home first and they were sitting really crooked so I took them in to the muffler place) and I will say that the H pipe sounded pretty good though.

Did you contact JBA about the problem? What did they say?
