CAI from Ebay AHAHAHA
So my buddy just bought one of those cheapo cold air intakes from ebay and we got in a little argument because i told him they are probably crap and that his stock intake was probably better than it haha. Does anybody know anything about these and whether or not they do anything? should he take it out and put the stock one back in or leave it in?

A CAI without a tune is wasting time/money.
He should have saved his dollars...for around $450, he can get a quality tune AND a CAI from VMP. That thing looks like a total joke.
Breathing is one of (if not THE) most important aspect of a proper and efficient running motor. Why in the hell would he trust some noname/unproven system with a filter made in some Chinese sweatshop? Some people just confuse me to no end.

that was one of my mistakes.. i bought that same item.. the only problem with it is that the pipe is made of steel and it get hot as fire, so what the car is breathing is fire instead of cold air. It will be better if he leaves the factory intake pipe ( made of rubber ) and replace the filter with a cone one. Just to prove him that he is wrong tell him to hold his hand in top of that intake pipe that he just bought for 4 seconds after he comes from work/school to see his hand burn...

Haha yeah this reminds me the good old days of my 05 Focus.... I got one of these types of kits for it.... was loud as hell but had no performance gains whatsoever and ruined my gas mileage so I ended up taking it off....
What I do like about these is that lovely shinny pipe but as was already mentioned they are steel and tend to heat up!

Yea i dont understand it either. But hey, whatever floats his boat i guess. You think the stock intake (hose AND filter) would be better than this thing or no? Is he actually losing power or is it staying the same as the stock intake you think?
