Engine Cradle?

Engine Cradle?
Ok so I havent been on here in a few months but about a month ago I was in a really bad wreck that I miraculously walked away from uninjured. I hydroplaned accross four lanes of traffic, took out a freeway sign, and landed in a ditch. Not good. Apparently the sign hitting my car shattered the front windshield and left a nice big ole scratch down the left side of the car, I could see the windshield but the left side of the car was in the ditch where I could not see it. They are saying there is a lot of dmaage to the underbody, that that is where the most damage is. Its been a month and the car is STILL in the shop (and I hate my rental) and they are telling me they just now realize the engine cradle is damaged.
Now that im done giving a background my question is- what is the engine cradle? Im guessing it holds the engine in from underneath? Should I be majorly concerned that they want to just repair this or should it total the car out, I mean is it as bad as frame damage? Im pretty upset and anyone who has knowledge of the engine cradle and could give me some feedback I would really appreciate. Thanks~

I am guessing they are referring to the "K-Member" actually when they say cradle.
This is an aftermarket one made by BMR. Its rather cheap actually and i would say they should replace the stock one with OEM or one like this.
I cant find a good picture of the OEM version but I would say that "fixing" the original could lead to vibration problems down the road perhaps. Good luck and I am sure other will chime in

Sorry to here about your accident. If you decide that you would like to upgrade i have a tubuar k member that will fit your car. It should be less than the factory replacement k member. Check with the shop manager, i don't believe your insurance company would object, and if they give you the ok give me a call and i can get into a better k member. Thanks Dennis
