Default Auto Transmission Maintenance

Need some info on this.. Is is recommended to change the fluid/filter of the Automatic Transmission? I've heard some people said: changed every 30K and other said: never changed just add fluid to it if needed... mine is at 46K and I've never even looked at the fluid level to see if it even has fluid in there. lol ... Thanks

First of all, you can't easily check it; there's no dipstick!
I'm getting ready to change mine with 40K miles, but I drive the **** out of it and drag race it, too. So I think it needs it.

I havent looked at mine either. IS this the goofy Ford tranny with the sealed design? Do we need a special "tool" just to pump fluid back in the tranny?

What was so problematic with a dipstick?

I had my automatic transmission fluid changed at 30,000 miles. I took it to the local Ford dealer and let them do it. Cost me $150.00(everything included)with a coupon and took 2 hrs. Cheap insurance.
