Convertible Top Temperature Dependent?

Convertible Top Temperature Dependent?
Just got my 2009 V6 Convertible and loving it.
Since it is my first convertible, is it suppose to NOT work when outside temperature is cold (30-40F)? It happened to me multiple times when I coud not open and sometimes could not close when ambient temp is below 40F. It just would not do anything, button is pressed with no response whatsoever.
Let the good times roll!

The new top will be tight, but the switch is not dependent on the outside temp. The top will not work while the car is moving though. I like how the top switch can be tapped to drop all four windows at once.

I left it open one night in the garage and could not get it to close in the morning going to work. It sure was cold driving to work with the top down with temps in the high 30s. Luckly, it started working once I got to work....closed it immediately. On another occasion, I was showing off the convertible top to a friend late at night (approx 38F), and again it did not work.
Although it might be a legit concern about freezing, but temps here rarely dips below 32. At least not on the occasions when it failed to work.

i bought my car in feb of 2007 on a cold night. They had to drive the car from mississippi to tennessee because it was located on the showroom floor of a casino...
anyway, i had not even testdrove the car... so before i drove off the salesman was showing me how to work all of the stuff and we let the top down in 10 temperature.... so i dont think there is a "switch" depending on temp. you may have a trip to the dealer shop in your near future.

cool man stick with it, I have a had a few probs here and there with my vert, and I have had to take it to the dealership, but I love my car. Once the sun is shining down on you on a warm summer day you'll forget all about the trip to the dealership and their ridiculous antics.

How on Earth is a bad switch for the top allowed to leave the factory? Yikes!
My top got stuck a coupla times. By stuck I really should say hesitated. It seemed there was some moisture trapped in the top/ A-frame interface. I just gave it a second and tried again. When the interface was exposed I rubbed some silicone onto both faces of the joint and **knock on wood** the problem hasn't re-occured. BTW this was in the beginning of winter. Here in Sacramento its 75 degrees and sunshiney already! = )
