Default Tune required?

Hi all,
Here is another question regarding dual exhausts. Believe me I searched the forum and online, but havent found a solid answer. I am getting my duals installed this Wednesday, FRPP with GTA mufflers and I am very excited. The question that I have is, will my V6 require a tune after the exhaust is installed? Currently, I have a C&L CAI and a tune which I got from Breenspeed (which is definitely a must buy for first timers). I called Breenspeed and asked them and they said that there is no tune required for dual exhaust set up, I also asked Ford (who is doing my installation) and they also said no tune is required. I have read in some forums, that a tune is good for better sound and HP gain, is this true? Obviously, they say a tune isn't required, but it is best to get one, for better overall performance? any input is appreciated as always.

A tune is not required for any dual exhaust. It will give you a rise in horsepower, but i've never heard of improved sound from a tune. I would think any improve from the sound would be from your CAI, not the tune itself.

At this point pretty sure the only gains your gonna see would be with a dyno tune.

no tune needed.... unless you were changing the exhaust on your harley. dyno tune should give you better performance but not because your muffs require it.

Awesome, thank you everyone for responding. I am excited to finally have my duals exhaust done, im sure they will sound great.

Another question, off topic, changing the gears, is this a good way to increase performance?

definitely. you reach the powerband much faster and therefore get to experience your car's "peak" much more often.

Nice, how much something like that costs, parts and labor?

If you are going to do gears, do a trac-loc or other differential carrier at the same time (or swap for an 8.8). Yes, gears will make a difference, at least in the fun factor .
