Default headers?

im thinkin of buying a set of pypes headers, i already have a cat-back pypes system, with a x-pipe and m-80 mufflers....im wondering what kind of gains i can exspect with the headers, and what kind of sound difference, and also how hard is it to intall these, and is there a how to anywhere? cause i searched but i cant find one. thanks

there are several write-ups on shorty header installs including mine. basically, dont expect significant power gains or a significant sound improvement. you will get both but it will be subtle at best. as far as sound goes, the tone of my exhaust was nicely improved. definitely more aggressive and crisper sound. this doesnt mean it was necessarily much louder, just a better tone. and as for power, i think the low end torq was the biggest difference. many had stated that they noticed that there car revs quicker and they get through the rpms faster. this point was bashed many times but after installing my set, i can agree and back up those claims from my own experience. i definitely did notice my car running through the lower band much quicker and i think it is a direct testament to the header claims of better low end torque. my car most definitely idles MUCH smoother (annoying rattle at idle is gone) and just "feels" like less stress on the engine when i'm punching it. so many of the vets here on the forums have preached to not judge a product solely on the numbers it produces but rather than the characteristic it gives your car. basically, i recommend getting headers as long as you DON'T overpay for them. i also recommend you installing them yourself so long as you're handy with tools and/or enjoy working on things. i'm glad i installed my set. added an additional sense of pride and accomplishment that strengthened the bond with the vehicle..... sounds like post relationship counseling with your lady, LOL. good luck!

Well Sancho said it well enough. They will give you a better exhaust note, and much smoother. I installed them myself and you should really have no problem doing them yourself especially if you are good with a set of tools. I would really suggest though using a lift on those manifold bolts where your exhaust hook to the pipes. It just makes it that much easyer when you can lift and move the pipes around but yes you can do it from the ground. It might just be a little harder.

Just to make it more fun, invite a buddy over who has some wrenching experience and that will make it easyer to.

Do the driver side first so you will have more patience its the hardest
