Default Tips and Tricks

Well, I was watching some vids on youtube and I can't remember which vid it was, but there were some comments talking about some tricks with the stang.

One was with the automatic transmission one could stall higher while holding the brake. What he said to do is hold the brake, switch to neutral and rev once and the brake sinks in a little more. After that you switch to drive and you can stall higher before you launch, because your brakes have more grip.

The other trick was when the engine is hot. You could turn your heater all the way up and it's supposed to take a lot of the heat out of your engine bay. So you can go a little faster thanks to cooler air.

I went out and tried both of these tricks and I know the first one works for sure. The second one seems like it might just be related to the placebo effect, but I did feel like the car pulled just a little harder.

I just wanted to discuss this and hopefully some of you can try this and let me know if yall think it works.

turning the heater on does pull engien heat out, as for running faster with that, I don't know but you should run closer to normal like that. Old trick when cars would get close to over heating was to turn the heat on inside to draw it out of the compartment.

As for good launches, in any auto if you stand on the brake and the gas then let go of the brake you'll launch harder.

Yes, turning on the heater does draw the heat off of your engine as well as making your radiator cooler. We did this with my sister in-laws POS Chevy Suburban on the beach. It was running hot so she turned on the heater full blast and you could see the temp falling.

Power braking is not good for the trans. It puts a lot of stress on the torque convertor and heats the trans fluid.
Adding grip to the brakes is nonsense. The flash may actually be higher if you just stomp it off idle but the issue is if you can get the sudden power to the ground. T-Lok, LCA and sticky tires will get the job done.
