Everyone always says just trade in for a GT. They are right if your set on going with a 4.6. If your gonna do an engine swap why not look at the 5.4 to make it worth all the cash you will drop on it.

I agree.
Going through the trouble of it all...
Reward yourself with something more unique than the 4.6 GT mill.
If I was to do this, I'd get a combo that gets me 500rwhp at least...

You would have a screwed up V6 in the end.
You will need to beef up the tranny if it is a manual
and the 7.5" rear end has to go. Then the front
brakes need to be swapped to GT rotors to stop this
Frankenstein V6 thats now a V8.
Sell the V6 and buy a GT unless you are made of money....
first of all, the GT rotors will make a small difference. SMALL. they use the same calipers, clamping force will be the same, just the rotational force of the brakes will be different, but only slightly 12.8" vs 11.5. you can get GT500 takeoffs for cheap that will make an actual difference.

2nd of all the 7.5" doesnt have to go, it just needs to be dealt with. Getting mine built with an Auburn posi, new 4.10 gears will run 850. stonger and cheaper than a 8.8" rear with the 4.10's. not to mention lighter.

the only part youre significantly right about in this is that the T5 is weak. DUH

yeah all in all it would run about 4-8k depending on where you get your engine, what kind, tranny and rear, etc, but its much more interesting, and can be potentially cheaper depending on what kind of shape your stang is in. my modified 6 would get about 12k at the dealership. that leaves me with around 16-20k to pay (assuming its paid off). not worth it. you forget that these cars aren't getting younger. and they're one of the most interchangeable and easily modified cars on the planet.

i like the idea of putting the 5.4L 3v from the f150 in. from what i have read, it has the same head as the 4.6 so u can use the same wiring harness and electronics. then u just have to dyno. that would be a sweat project. the other idea ive had is getting a 6.0L diesel but that is just crazy talk.

There are a few 6's that have done the 5.4 swap. If I remember correctly the f 150 can come with the 4v as well but its an upgraded feature. Don't know if you could find one though.
