Pypes X issues
Anyone have any issues sliding the x pipe (XFM44) into the down pipes? I searched around and haven't seen anything, but it looks to me that this x sitting here is the same diameter as the down pipes. I know the outlet side of the x is the same diameter as OEM GT pipes, why, why, why???
I think American Muscle sent me the wrong part, check that, Pypes put the wrong part and or label on the box. Every image I can find of the pipe shows the down pipe section as being flared OUT (so it slides over the down pipe). The pipe I got is flared IN to 2.25, the same size as the down pipe. On the Pypes site it states:
Use this to convert to true dual exhaust on a V6 car. The Mustang's oem cats are actually pretty good high flow cats. Rather than make you replace brand new ones, this specially made X pipe crossover can be added to your existing oem catted downpipe by cutting the downpipe in the appropriate spot and slipping this X-pipe over the existing pipes. You will need to add a GT catback since your car is only equipped with single exhaust.

btw what chin do you have?
How close is it to fitting? Is it possible that you just have a burr on it from cutting the downpipes off?
If you go to a local service station or muffler shop, they might just expand the end of the pipe for you for free. I takes like 2 minutes. That way you don't have to hassle with pypes or possibly sending it back and waiting on it.
