I'd gladly send him a bunch, but mine's pretty heavily modded from "as delivered" form. Probably wouldn't be too useful for him in showing off the kit in it's standard configuration.

I didn't get a "Cobra body kit", I converted the nose using all genuine Ford GT500 parts (front fascia, grilles, headlights, driving lights, splitter, etc). Since they're genuine Ford parts intended for the Mustang platform, yes, they fit perfectly BUT due to the number of parts needed, it's not an especially inexpensive conversion.

Expect $1600+ for all the parts to do it right, and there's a fair bit of labor involved. Since I did all the prep, paint and install myself, that wasn't out of pocket for me, but if you're having a body shop do it, labor could easily double the cost.

Nice pics.

I vote that when sending the pics to EE, X-men also post in here for the rest of us to see.

I3lackout 03-09-2010 06:31 PM

Wish I had mine installed. Maybe the end of next week I'll send Dave some if all goes as planned. Did my FRPP dual exhaust yesterday. Pain in the ass.

GrayPony 03-09-2010 10:42 PM

I need to find an alternator cover... I don't know why they stopped putting them on the later models.

killdar 03-11-2010 03:22 PM

hey that no alternator cover weight saving mod cuts 0.0000000000000572s on the quarter mile

And probably saved Ford $1.99 on the production line

ODDYSEY 03-11-2010 04:25 PM

That is the real reason right there.... now I will have to pay the Ford parts department $49.99 for that $1.99 piece.

Wes_T 03-11-2010 04:44 PM

Noticed some of you have aftermarket fluid tanks (radiator). What's the advantage of those? Is it just cosmetic? They do look nice.

ODDYSEY 03-25-2010 07:43 AM

I don't know if Ford has it, I was just making a guess on availbility and price :) I will probably just tape up my alternator and try and paint it.

And I will be posting up some more for you all shortly... :)

ODDYSEY 03-25-2010 09:06 AM

Average for the regular kit is around 8 hours give or take a bit. The intercooled version will take a bit longer simply because there's more stuff to install (heat exchanger, coolant pump, etc)

As far as ease, I like to express it like this: if you're mechanically inclined enough to be able to swap a water pump, and comfortable enough with wiring to install a set of speakers, you have sufficient skills to follow the X-Charger install instructions sucessfully.

Sorry for the missing X-Charger.

The intercooler got in the way temporarily :icon_naughty:
