Default Help a Young Guy Out

Hey there,

Well, I'll get straight to the point, I'm 17, and I just bought a 2005 Mustang v6. Well, I'm lookin to Upgrade.

My list of things to do, I'm hoping someone can look over them to make sure its all compatible, and tell me how much money I'm lookin at throwing out.

Dual exhuast, prolly flowmaster 40s, and an X pipe, with JBA headers. With that I'm gonna try to pick up the GT mustang rear bumper.

I'm also look at a Steeda High Velocity Cold Air Intake.

Whats this about a thing called the Xcal2, which can completly shut off the mustangs mph limit, which is limited by factory at 115 right? Also the xcal2 removes rpm limits suposidly?

The Vortech Supercharger will be out in about 4-6 months, I've heard.

I also want to find a new hood for the car.

Thats my list of stuff to do, and little by little i'll do it. Hopefully i'll have it all done in 2 years.

Now what am I lookin to put out money wise now? Since I really dont know too much about all this.

Congrats on the new car! The dual exhaust should look pretty good on your car. There's a thread in here somewhere that someone adapted a v8 take-off exhaust onto the V6 and kept the v6 bumper by notching it on the new 05. The Xcal2 from what I've read seems to offer more options than the predator and will get rid of both the RPM limiters and top end limiter.

Unless you plan on doing a lot of bottom or top end block work you may want to have some sort of RPM limiter left in to protect yourself from getting overzealous on the throttle. A dyno will help you pick the best place to have it set.

I don't think 10 grand is right.
S/C 3-4.5K
Steeda CAI - $300-400
JBA Headers - 800-1k depending on coating
Dual exhaust - Take off - 200-300, custom 400-550
Rear bumper - Take off - 200, new 400
XCAL2 - not a clue

Hood...depends 500-750 + paint (400)

Or just do a search on the web for the components. There are plenty of sponsers on here as well that can provide you pricing for your mods.

Have fun!
