Default Squealing Brakes

Ok I installed some Werner aftermarket brakes about a 1 1/2 years ago, might I say they were the worst brakes I have ever had I will never recomend them to anyone. Anyway about six months ago they started squealing like crazy not every time I hit the brakes but most of the time. I checked them a few weeks back and they are still good, the only thing obvious that I have seen is that the pads appear to be so hard they are eating into the rotor. Is there anything I can do to stop this squealing cause its driving me frickin nuts

Where did you get these pads from? What material are they made of?

I would guess that it is probably the material that the pads are constructed out of that is causing the squeal. You won't be able to fix it short of any means other than replacing the pads most likely. You certainly don't want to spray any kind of lubricant on your rotors to stop it. If the pads are eating into your rotors, that is certainly bad. I would be getting them off of there as fast as I could if it was my car. Thanks for the heads up on them, I'll be sure not to put them on mine.

I seem to remember reading somewhere about putting some anti-squeal adhesive on the backs of the pads to stop the noise.

When installing break pads, the lubricant is required on the back of the pads, where the rotors touch. If the lubricant was applied properly and the breaks still squeak, you may just want to replace them out with different pads or try and ignore the sqeaking noise.

I think it's called Disk Quiet (red stuff).
I put it on my stock pads. It works.

+1
I use permatex disc brake quiet.
It's a spray on adhesive for the back of the pad.
It sticks the pad to the caliper piston, reducing vibration and eliminating noise.

Lubricating the back of the pad will do nothing.

Here's a pic I found off the net. It's not the spray-on, but similar. Hope it helps
