1/4 Mile results
Hey Guys,
It's my first time posting here though I've been tracking the forums for quite a while now. In Aug 2009 I picked up a 2010 grabber blue Mustang Pony pkg stick shift with the interior upgrage to it. Very good performer, but my last car was a bit faster (2006 Impala SS with the 5.3L), so the quest began to close the gap.
I stored the car over the winter and when I got it out this spring I added a SCT tuner (custom tuned from VMP), cold air intake, pulstar plugs (my parents noticed a mpg increase on their saturn, figured it was worth a go) GT muffler, and lower control arms to start. All around definately woke the car up. The bottom end definately the biggest improvement. All around more responsive.
Then about a month ago I had a set of 3.73's and limited slip installed. That too made a big difference. Getting up to speed is definately a lot more effortless and off the line traction is through the roof.
At all 3 stages so far I have gone to the local 1/4 mile track to test it out.

The 60' and 594' timers weren't working when I went to the track the second time with it.
I was pretty happy with the results that the car has given me, but I did have one question about my trap speed with the 3.73's installed. The temperature was actually cooler (about 60 degrees vs. about 80) when I ran with my gears installed, though my mph was identical. I am still in 3rd gear at the end of the quarter mile. Just wondering if this is normal or were my expectations of gaining mph at the end out of line?

I am a 5 speed manual, stock p zero nero all seasons, and yeah, when I finish the quarter mile i am running about 6000rpm in third right now.
Not sure what everyone else is shifting at, but from a few tests with an accelerometer I have found shifting at 6300rpm results in the greatest G force all the way through each gear.

Gears don't add any horsepower and so you won't see much change in the MPH. The lower gear is multiplying the existing torque which lowers your ET.
FYI...I found my tach is off by about 300rpm based on the window switch's digital read out. I shift at 6k and can pick up MPH & ET shifting to 4th if I hit all the shifts right with the juice otherwise I have to really wind out 3rd to 64-500. On just the motor 3rd is enough, with 3.73's you might be needing 4th gear as your shifts get quicker.

Nice times man!
I am bone stock and I ran a 9.79@74 in the 1/8th on stock tires and a 2.2 60' with a crappy reaction time lol
Hopefully once the 285's go on with some 4.10's and 93 oct race tune i'll be low 14's in the quarter
Then maybe spray or some other F/I depending on money
