Default Sequential Tail Fail

I've had mine on since late '07 and just this week I noticed the right tail light doesn't sequence properly. When in Hazard mode or right turn signal sequence, only the first light blinks, however when I hit the brakes they work normally. I replaced all bulbs today, and checked the wires for any damage (didnt see any)

I am pretty sure they are either webelectric or american muscle, but both companies say they don't have me on file. Since it was back in 07 I can't find record of the purchase. Is there any way to tell which brand they are? I will post a pic tomorrow.

I don't know how to tell what brand they are. Sorry.
But on my CDC's, one of the bulbs quit working.
I replaced the bulb, still didn't work.
Tugged on the wires, one of them pulled out of the heat shrink.
Bad solder joint. That was it. Good luck.

Too bad you can't find the receipt because WebElectric would replace them.

Hopefully 157b can help you.

If I could see a pic, I could identify them.

These are webelectrics I have repaired.
Lawerence at webelectric sent me new
output devices for the circuit for free...

Check eack light bulb for proper operation
with a wire and a battery or an OHM meter.
THEN if ALL the bulbs are good...
Swap the sequencers from side to side
and see if the problem stays or follows
the sequencer.
A $5 test light would make short ordered
of the diagnosic aspect of this 'fix it' project.

Hmm it doesn't look like Webelectric.. take a look:

I replaced ALL bulbs yesterday, and the sequence problem is still the same. I switched the harnesses from the left side to the right, and still the problem is the same: the outer 2 lights do no light up during blinker or hazard mode, yet they light up fine when braking and unlocking the car.

Any ideas?

Problem is the same as in the problem DIDNT follow the sequencer
or the problem is the same AS IN the same side is still not working correctly?
I cant diagnose problems 1000s of miles away without highly detailed
information...

Sounds like the timing feature is out of whack and needs a reprogramming....

I am slightly confused at the question, so let me try to explain it with more clarity.

The harness that originally started on the right side was malfunctioning.

I replaced all the 6 bulbs (not incl backup lights)

Per your suggestion, I swapped the harnesses from right to left, and the malfunction sequence that I described continued: the outer 2 lights (lights 2 and 3) do not flash in hazard/turn signal sequence, but this time it was on the left side..

I doubt Lawrence would be interested in repairing these if they aren't genuine Webelectrics (I dont know if they are or not)

Any way I can perform "surgery" on these to fix the timing/flasher activation?

When the one side of my sequentials (Stack Racing thru AM) was sequencing so fast you could barely see them sequence, a good cleaning of the harness connector was all it took. I doubt that's your problem from your description but a good shot of contact cleaner followed by immediate wiping of the contacts (insert and unplug multiple times while the contacts have cleaner on them before evaporating) MIGHT do the trick. If not, you at least ruled out a dirty connector.

WebElectrics dont have paint marking the position of
the 1,2, and 3 bulb holder locations. And the kit comes
with a star mint. Did you get the mint for after you are
done with the install?
He uses real stickers on the bulb holders to indicate position...
And little black zip ties to gather the wires into a harness...
Its a software thing with the timing.
Unless you have PIC programming hardware/software, no quick fix for you.
If they are weblectrics, it will say weblectrics on them.
If not, it is time for some new sequencers
(get weblectrics directly from Lawerence like I did).
If you do get new ones, send the old non-workers
to me so I can do a post mortum on them...

I have them on the Challenger as well and no problems yet...

If you think you can resurrect my sequential from the dead I will put my stockers on and send the broken harness to you. Would you seriously consider doing some contracted electrical analysis for me? I would include a starbucks gift card or something in the package lol. Should we take this on to PM?
