Default just installed cai, having a problem

came home from college for the day to install my new ford racing cold air intake. it was very easy and straightforward, but when i turned my car on, it makes a throbbing sort of noise in park and the rpm needle keeps bobbing up and down slightly.

i got a tuner too, but havent installed the tune yet.

any idea why this is happening?

yeah...there is warning that came in the box for your CAI that states the CAI must be used with an engine tune and in failing to retune the engine could result in engine damage (or something like that)...

Um, disconnect the battery for 20 mins to reset the 'adaptive learning'.
While you arer waiting, read the owners manual about battery disconnection
and adaptive learning relearning procedure.

I don't believe loading the tune resets the Adaptive Learning.

Had you taken the car out stock for some WOT runs just before the install and then done the same AFTER the install, you'd have noticed a difference. Driving granny style, you might not notice if you were SC'd, let alone a custom tune.

"To gather proper datalogs, follow these instructions. Use the attached config file and the latest version of SCT Live Link from http://sctflash.com/tsaddons.php?type=DL. Warm the vehicle up, then reflash the PCM to reset the learned values. "
