Default Need tech help

My girls 2005 v6 mustang has a problem with her gauge cluster. I didnt know if this was common or hers is just screwed. Its the 4 gauge one, ONLY the tach works. The speedometer, gas, and hot/cold gauge goes nuts. For example the gas gauge will be at the 8 o clock position then 12 then 6 or what ever random. I didnt think it was the sensors cause thats three that are messed up. So where could i find a good quality cluster and how do i get the miles and stuff onto it?

Bad stepper motors are a pretty well know issue. There is a guy on ebay with a speedo shop that does a full rebuild and return of your cluster for like $60 + shipping.

I believe its $130 + Shipping because I looked into the same guy, I ended up replacing my whole cluster since I got dealer price from the local dealership... My RPMs, Gas gauge were dead, and the MPH did what it wanted aswell as the coolant temp gauge.

+1

Bad stepper motors are chronic on the '05's and some '06's.

Seems like a common thing with the earlier model S197's. I've been experiencing off and on issues with my temperature gauge and the RPM gauge. On warm/hot days, the temperature gauge works perfectly fine, but during the winter season it was hit or miss. When my RPM gauge acts up, it is 500 RPM too low. Good luck with the fix!
