Yes, there is a top fill hole.
12K miles does not warrant a gear oil change.
BTW its ATF in there, not 'gear oil'.

I changed mine to AMSOIL ATF and have not looked back since.
It shifts oh so much smoother...

There's no real reason to do it at 12k miles other than preference. Most people state smoother shifts and a quieter gearbox. +1 for Amsoil.

Unfortunately, AMSOIL is not available thru eBay, only
licensed AMSOIL dealers.

EDIT: I guess I am wrong or this seller will be getting into trouble...

I am thinking about changing my trans fluid soon also, my 07 has 66,000 on it. I have always use Motorcraft MERCON V in my other car and it has been great. So, i'm just wondering do you really think the AMSOIL is a better choice than motorcraft? I have never used anything AMSOIL so i have no experience with it

AMSOIL is ten times better than MotorCraft.
But not ten times more expensive.
At least you know who makes it and where it is produced.

Search and see whom makes MotorCraft oils and lubes.

So, are you saying that MotorCraft lubes are not manufactured in the USA? I have never really search on it but i assumed that they were

FORD or any major car manufacturer is all about keeping the costs down.
AMSOIL is not.
