I believe the offset's are the same or darned close. And whether they're 16", 17" or 18" OE wheels and tires, the tire OD should be equivalent (about 27") on yours and his. They should fit if he didn't put some odd tire on the OE wheel.

+1, shouldn't have any issues with fitment.

Since the 2012s have the same front end and same width
rear ends, they should fit like a glove.
Now putting larger rims on a V6 that dont have the proper
steering stops from the factory for the larger GT wheels
might have some rubbage issues in full lock turns.
Sometimes rotor clearance issues occure because
of the smaller front brake rotors but I believe the 2012
V6es and Gts have the same size front brake rotors...
So that shouldnt be an issue.
But whatever you do, check for full unobstructed rotation
by hand BEFORE you lower it onto the ground and take her
for a spin with the new kicks.

Um near the center...
17" rims firsdt pic
18" rims 2nd pic
16" OEM v6 rims 3rd pic
You can clearly see that the middle pic has a paper thickness of
clearance inbetween the brake caliper bracket and the spokes of the rim...

that's good to hear lol, i'm also curious howcome when i was looking at wheels over the internet, it showed that certain 17"s only fit up to '09 mustangs and not the '12 model?
