Hey everyone. I am having an issue with my headlight. When the car is OFF and the headlights are OFF they just randomly turn on for a minute or so and then shut off. It happens alot lately and I dont know why. Any ideas what might be wrong? I tried looking online and cant find anything anywhere.

I have an 07 v6 btw.

 

Any chance you or someone is hitting the buttons on the key FOB? If not, then I'd search for water leak and read the TSB associated with it. It can cause some pretty funky electrical gremlins.

 

The headlight switch grounds the headlight ON request wire to turn off the headlights.
It also grounds the headlight OFF request wire to turn off the headlights.
I would suspect a corroded SmartJunctionBox on the pass side kick panel area.
Check the carpet and pad on the pass side for ANY signs of water intrusion or
search 'water leak' for the many posts on the infamous dreaded water leak
syndrome and the many TSBs from Ford associated to the 'water leak'.

 

welcome to the forums. does sound like a connection issue, hope its not water damage in the sjb. these cars do some funny stuff. when the battery died on our 06, we could turn on the headlights and they would flash like strobe lights. never saw anything like that before. interesting too, my name is m.thomas,(mike)
