Default CAI Question

I am looking t purchase cold air intake for my car. I currently have a stick v6 mustang 2010, the standard base model. I havent done anything to my car and figured this would be a cheapish start. I found a BBK CAI for the 2010 mustang that costs $199. any words of advice would be nice.

also any other cheap cosmetic changes you guys know of let me know.

I've read people experiencing issues with the BBK CAI. They were recieving engine code issues. If you get a CAI, you will also need to get a good custom tune from a reputable company, such as Brenspeed or American Muscle (Bama tunes). A stand alone CAI will only provide minimal performance gain, maybe (3-5) HP and is barely felt. However, once you add a custom tune the performance gain can range from (15 - 20) HP. I would recommend a custom tune or a combo package, which includes the CAI/tune. Good luck!

I've got the JLT that i put on a week ago and i'm loving it. really notice the throttle response and a nice sound from the engine. I was already running a 93 octane race tune with it before, and this CAI enhanced it a noticeable ammount. Pretty easy to install too.

A no-tune required CAI is for looks only; no power gain beyond maybe 3-5 RWHP, tops. Add a custom tune and you're talking about 12-18 RWHP on the 4.0. A tune required CAI with a good tune will up that maybe a few more HP.

The issue with the no-tune-required CAI's is that they may still throw a code for running lean on some cars which can eventually cause damage.

If you want no tune now and upgrade to a tune later,
get an AIRAID CAI with MVT. The plug stays in without
a tune and the plug is removed with a tune.
Best of both worlds.

A CAI without a tune is for looks only.

BTW, where did you get your "Mustand"?

Taking the "Cheap" route with these cars is a foolish thing to do. You get what you pay for, so save up for the best parts and take pride in what you build.
