alright so, i am tired of the shaker 500 head unit, the paint is peeling and now the cd player is broke. i don't want to replace the stock speakers or subs; just the head unit. i want to get the JVC KW AV60BT. its pretty sweet and amazon has it for $100 cheaper, is there anyone that has installed a similar head unit that can give me detailed instructions on what exactly i need to buy. also i know there are problems with not being able to use the subs with an aftermarket deck, what do i need for that? and what about a voltage regulator to prevent that popping noise?

4th one down for PAC CAN-BUS interface,
5th should you wish to just do the 5v regulator method if you don't need VSS information and the like.

I've been looking on crutchfield and made a shopping cart worth about $900. I think I got it figured out.

My only question is who painted your shaker
and how did they prep it before painting to
have the paint peeling from it?

New head unit with old speakers and cheap
OEM amps is just wrong.
Thats like buying new rims and then haveing old
bald wornout 10 year old 2002 date coded tires
installed on them.

I replaced my shaker 500-door subs-and speakers- and amps... at the time, i could not get the factory amps to hook up to my panasonic head unit... and factory speakers were a weird ohm and did not match up to the new head unit. I'm sure some smarter people than me will know how to cross that bridge nowadays..

anyway my setup is

panasonic head unit with back up camera-TV-MP3-DVD, etc...
Boston Acoustic Speakers all the way around
Memphis 8's in the doors
Shaker 1000 box with JL1 x 10's in the trunk, 3 JL1 and Alpine amps mounted in the trunk with 2 crossovers
complete interior and trunk removed and dynamated then reinstalled

I installed everything myself... kicks like a mule and rocks like a sledgehammer

Just did this myself (along with new carpet). "Fun" eh?

Worthwhile results, but what a task...
