Default Hard shifting?

Hi guys...

I'm in my '05 V6 convertible and when I go to shift if feels hard to do. It's like I'm pushing against something then it goes into gear. Not enough to keep from driving, mind you, but enough to be annoying and keep from smooth shifting. Also, I had to take the shifter **** off to install a trunk release and since I put it back on, shifting into first feels kind of wonky and sometimes I don't get it all the way in.

Anyone have any suggestions on this? On a scale of 1-10, I put myself at a 4 or maybe even a three, so if you could use really small words and type slowly, I would appreciate it...

I had issues shifting into 2nd & 3rd gear for awhile. Then one day, I had a (1-2 inch) dead spot at the top of my cluth pedal and I had to jam the shifter into every gear. I was afraid I was going to ruin my transmission, so I barely drove it to the shop. It turned out the slave cylinder/throw out bearing went bad and had to be replaced. Due to being internal, I ended up replacing the whole clutch assembly.
I am not sure if this is relevant to your issue, however I wanted to relay.
