There are a number of things that could be wrong. First of all your ecu might of been misprogrammed and the idle settings are off, or theres an error in the ecu programming that is causing this. Another problem is that you might have some chip that has been dammaged to cause the problem. My best advice is to take it back to Ford and get them to look at it sice it still should be under warrenty. Don't worry I don't think the problem is too serious, but do get it looked at ASAP.

Mine stays up around 1500-1800 rpms as I'm coming up to a stop, but then drops down to 1000 or so once I'm stopped. I find it terribly annoying, but the dealer says it's normal and there's nothing I can do. I would like to find out how to get the engine to drop to 1000 as soon as I let off of the gas. Anybody have any ideas other than "take it to a speed shop"?

Scott.. the answer is... Get a Tuner... XCal or Preditor... either will fix the accel and deceel delays.... you can also set your Netural and Drive idel speeds.

Yea you can fix this problem with a tuner by reseting your idle poits so that your engine will operate at the new idle point instead of stock.
