So uping the gear ratio has grabbed my attention. Im running stock but would just like to improve to the performance package of my year 2013 v6 believe is the 3.31. I could not do this my self so wondering if you took yours in what u got charged to do it.

 

Call a local shop and ask for a quote, from what ive heard here in cali its about 300

 

for anyone wondering, my dealership wouldn't do it, and the average cost I got was 280-340 from some shops around me.

Some Ford service departments will do it but you'll typically pay more to have them do it.
I had mine changed from 2.73 to 3.55 at the Ford service department and it cost me 1400 parts and labor and they also back it up with 2 year/24,000 mile warranty.
I was aware how much less I could have spent somewhere else but I have no regrets going the route i did. Mine are nice and quiet, no whine or howl like you can get if you don't set them up properly.
You don't necessarily have to spend that much to get a good installation but setting up rearend gears is definitely something you don't want to scrimp on.
You guys mentioning 300 dollars, that must be just labor right?

 

How are the 3.55's? Do you wish you would have gone higher or are they a good balance between acceleration and top end? This might be a dumb question, but will changing the gears make your speedometer off?

 

For me the 3.55's was a great choice. A good balance between getting better acceleration without too drastic of rpm increase for highway driving. On the highway my rpm's are about 500 rpm higher than before. 80 mph used to be about 2000 rpm now it's about 2500 rpm.
It definitely makes your speedometer off, that was something the Ford service department had a little bit of a hard time with because 3.55 wasn't one of the available gear ratios for this car, but they did get it right. Also, if you get an aftermarket tune you typically have the ability to program it for all the typical gear ratios available.
