Default JBA Muffler

OK yet another "Exhaust" question. I was wondering if anyone who has an axel back JBA for the V6 (not a dual setup that will come later) would mind letting me know if it is wake the neighbors up loud or if it is a good sound? I just bought mine and I have listened to the sound clips and they sound pretty nice. Problem is I have three ricers that live on my street and you can hear their lawn mowers coming from miles away and they sound like crap, in my opinion. I don't mind being heard just don't want to me mistaken for one of them. Thanks for any info you can give me.

Ok, funny story, I am quite a bit older than the kids that have the ricers, when I got my Stang all three came over and were talking crap about the V6 and how I couldn't beat them in a race that they had "tricked out" motors and they were fast. I regaled them with the story of making go carts out of a lawn mowers and racing them then growing up and racing Mulholland drive in California and PCH. Now being an adult that has to pay for his own cars and repair not to mention tickets I was a bit hesitant to race. After a few days of badgering we went out behind the theater marked off a 1/4 mile and setup. The guy I raced with my bone stock V6 ("phony pony" as they called it) was a 2002 WRX Subaru thing. Now I didn't actually think I had a chance to beat this kid in his turbo charged ricer but what the heck. Long story short he sucked on the shifter and I beat him down the track. I didn't race him again and retired a winner. Moral of the story learn to race before you talk trash!

Thanks for any info on the exhaust!

Scott

No you shouldn't, you will get a slightly deeper sound that will be maintained throughout the power band without getting that ricy sound aroun 3000-4000 rpms. You will also gain roughly 2-5 hp. By the way don't let those 4 bangers in their riced out cars fool you, even with my year I can kick the crap out of them, they usually get a slight lead in the begging since I only have 2.73 gears, but once I get around 3500-4000 rpms, and my full hp kicks in, its over. Hell my friend just got an 2000 V6 yesterday and that car, with the overdrive off is still slower than mine. The car cam with GT cutoffs, and a K&N filter, but I still have the faster of the two, don't know how, but I do. Must be my diablo tune that helps me out, because he has a 40 stock hp gain over me. Now granted I do have way more mods than he does, but still I should not be faster than he is. Sorry about rambling on like that, but nice kill.

HAHA!....great story!.....i love it. i haven't gotten into a situation like that yet becuase i just got my stang 4weeks ago and was previously driving a slightly modded ranger. those guys are pretty annoying in their mario karts. they done everything they could to their mario karts and the BEST they can do is come even with a stock V6 stang, (if they're lucky)...hahaha...i probably would have gave em a can of whoop *** and then offer to race them. if they someway, somehow beat me in the race, then at least i gave em an *** whooping. but i'm not here to promote violence.....as for your JBA, i been doing as much research as i can on exhaust kits and JBA seems to be the joice time after time. all the sound clips i've heard (single or dual) sound great and give the american muscle sound. i'm just waiting to hear the TRUE DUAL from JBA before i purchase it. so far no clips of the true dual....only the y-pipe dual

Thats a great kill story. Want to know why you whipped his ***?

The 2002 WRX is a 2.0L making 227 HP. Only 17HP more than our cars...but get this, only 217lb of torque and to top it off, all his HP is in the high end cause he has to wait for the turbo in that car to spin up. What a dumb ***, racing a mustang in the 1/4 mile, be it a V6 or V8, mustangs are designed to kill on the quarter mile. I wish I could have been there to see your stock ride spank his ***. Put a CAI, a good tune and less restrictive exhaust on your car and let him try it again.

Good job!!!

Sometimes ya just have to put the kids in their place.. nice kill!

Many really like the jba axle back... their duals are great! Some have said the axle back sounds like a small block v8.

Thanks everybody! I had fun spanking the kid. Some reason he doesn't talk to me anymore. Ohh well. Three days and I have the exhaust on my car and I will let you all know how it sounds.

i got a good kill story too... with my "bone stock" as ya call it, v6 stang. Me and my girlfriend were comming home from somewhere (i forget where it was) but i was at a stop light on a two laned road, speed limit 55. Some ricey *** car came up next to me with a fart can on the back of it (Brand spankin new souped up Corrola) and were listening to their loud bassey gangster music like all cool kids. the kid in the passenger seat was smashing his stupid face up against his window and trying to talk **** through his music, window, and mine as well. But anyway, the light turns green and apparently he was revving his engine cuz he took off when the light turned green and i was like uhhh... oh i guess i'm in a race hm... and i punched it and flew by him once, then took off the gas a little bit, and let him catch up, and then i did it again, and he still hadnt had enough so i got behind him to pass some cars on the right and then flew by him again and at that point he had enough and stayed off. Stupid kids in their ricers ... they just dont understand.
