Default CIA systems

I am considering a CAI for v6 '05 Mustang. I am a little confused as to the necessity a computer modification in order to control the air/fuel ratio at the proper level. Vendors such as K&N and AEM don't discuss the matter. On the other hand, C&L states it doesn't make sense install a CAI without a "tune". Opinions/recommendations?

Im choosing none/tune because it will almost certainly void a warrenty in all cases.

If you want the most performance gains from your CAI you want to go with a tune. With the X-Cal 2 you can return your computer back to stock before you take it to the shop. It saves your stock tune to the X-cal and just replaces it with the ones that come on the tune, and you can return it back and forth as many times as you please. But if you want more performance go with the tune.

Actually, several dealers I have contacted say in no way will it affect the factory warranty. The tune however... may.

The tune is what I ment, not the intake. Intakes can be removed easily ^_^

4.0L 05-06 MODERATER PLEASE ADD A CAI, AND EXHAUST STICKY so that people can address actual problems instead of asking the same questions over and over again about cais and exhaust.

I disagree with you, the only way these can void a warranty is if they are proven to cause a problem. I dont see any way a CAI can cause any problem unless it gets wet. If you tune your car, you can always reflash it back to stock before taking it to the dealership, they have no way to tell if the program has ever been altered.

I took my car in for a Throttle Position Sensor problem.... I had my CAI and my Zex nitrous kit installed in PLAIN SIGHT... My Zex kit actually taps into the TPS. This tap was still there... I still had my custom tune loaded in the car. Heck, I even had my helmet still in the back seat, which the service writer commented on... TPS was replaced under warranty... even though the TPS didn't start giving me problem until AFTER i installed the Zex.. LOL! Now the TPS problem was described in TSB 05-14-4, but you can see I have a lot of mods the dealership could have tried to blame... LOL!
