Default Royle Purple

A few days ago I did an oil change on my friends Eclypse and he had me put Royle Purple in there. Do any of you know anything about Royle Purple, he says it's really good for performance cars and his dad uses it on his Viper. If it sucks then does anyone have any other recomendations?

Everything I've heard tends to indicate Royal Purple is excellent stuff. I'm running Mobil1 though. Been using it for many years, I know it works and I trust it.

The guy at the dealer ship told me that if I wanted to run pure synthetic I would haft to have my engine block flushed out. Is this true?

Royal Purple sponsors most of the racers in NMRA, they have great products but are pretty expensive. I use Mobil 1 Synth 10w30 it has a more reasonable price and is also top notch.

I will be using Royal Purple later next month. I just received my catalog from Royal Purple last night. They recommend you have at least 2000 miles before switching to their oil, for proper break-in procedures. They say you will see approx. 3% increase in HP & TQ. You don't have to have your engine flushed, because Royal Purple is compatible with normal mineral based oils. This would only be truw, if you were going to run a pure racing oil which does not meet OEM standards. The catalog says to follow manufacturer guidlines for oil change intervals, and you can easily go 5000 miles. They also mention when the factory warranty has expired, they show documented proof that the oil does not have to be changed for up to 12,000 miles but you do have to change the oil filter every 3,000-5000 miles. If anyone has any questions, maybe I can help. I have been researching oil for about 2 months. The two best oils I have found are Amsoil and Royal Purple. I'm not telling anyone to not use Mobil 1 or any of the others! I look at the manufactures data charts, and you can calculate for yourself what you need. Mobil 1 has been the benchmark standard for 10 years, but the new items on the market do offer other benefits.

In conclusion, I would use Royal Purple. You have to use what makes you comfortable. I have used Mobil 1 in the past, and had no problems. However, I see some nice benefits to Royal Purple and Amsoil. Don't be mis-guided by race oils, they are not ment for daily street use. Anyone can debate what I've said, bu the data charts don't lie.

Thanks and good luck!

I don't know...I'd have a hard time leaving the oil in there for that long.....I'm just old fashioned I guess....maybe I'd can he convinced to go 5 or 6k which I have never done but that's about it. I'll chime in on the RP question...I've heard nothing but good things as well....although I've never used it.

I have a quick question for you guys about oil. I have the Royal Purple in as stated above, but only put about 3000 miles a year on my stang, is it ok to wait a year inbetween changes??? I've heard people say it breaks down over time.[sm=smiley25.gif]

I would say in your situation, that moisture would be your enemy. Remember, water and oil don't mix.
