GT Exhaust interchangeability

GT Exhaust interchangeability
Hi,
I have a set of GT mufflers ready to install. I can possibly get from a friend a set of GT rear half exhaust pipes (LH and RH) and a GT front half pipes with Converter (this front set is a complete welded unit LH and RH welded together with a H pipe.
My question, can I just swap my single V6 pipe and cat by this unit as is. Felt it would me much simpler and stock.
Thanks

I have a GT bassain Xpipe that i am going to get installed and a gt take off system i got off ebay. you can uses your stock v6 passanger side pipe and just add the GT driver side pipe and add the gt Mufflers
I am not sure if the gt cats can be swaped strait across to the v6 but next week when i send my car in to get every thing installed i will find out if the GT xpipe i have will fit, I measured the distance between the pipes at the rear of the cats and compaired that to the xpipe and i am all most sure it will fit.
i would think if a gt xpipe fits a v6 then the cats and down pipes from a get would fit a v6 unless that down pipes are at a differant angle then the gts

Hi,
Let us know how it goes. The photo attached is the forward unit I was talking about. To fit exactly, since it is a welded unit, the mating forward of the Cats must be exactly, meaning the V6 and GT exhaust manifold tip must be at the same location in space, which I am doubtful it is? Good luck.
If this works out, it will be a very easy upgrade to the V6, no welding or cutting of pipes required, can do it home.

RE: GT Exhaust interchangeability
Well,
I was planning on swapping out the Stock GT H-pipe with my V6 Y-pipe when installing my dual system this weekend. Unfortunately we got some freezing weather and some snow so it will have to wait.
Here's what I do know so far:
1. We will need to drill a hole and weld in an O2 sensor bung on the left side of the H-pipe just above the cat as the sensor normally goes into the manifold on the GT and into the pipe just above the cat on the Y-pipe on the V6.
2. The distance between the two outlets appears to be the same. Haven't taken the Y-pipe off yet to see for sure however.
I've asked this question on a few forums but never found an answer... Does anyone know if the GT H-pipe can be directly swapped with the V6 Y-pipe (other than the O2 hole I mentioned above)?
For those of you with some sort of aftermarket X or H designed for a GT, did it bolt right up to the V6 exhaust manifolds?
Thanks,
Dave

RE: GT Exhaust interchangeability
just got my x Installed it is a bassani it Was made for the gt and the guy that installed did not say anything about it not fitting.
Just went out and put the car up on a curb to see under there and the x pipe is welded up about 6-8 inches back from the cats you should not have a problem putting a gt h pipe on the v6
here is a clip from my exhuast setup
