Default AEM cold air intake

I was wondering if anybody had the AEM cold air intake. The store I went to "Truck Trucks" in edgewater md, said its the only one they can get and my giftcard is to there so i figured id ask. It was about 350 dollars but i was wondering if it required a tune.
A. IF not, how much hp will i get without the tune and can i put it on myself?

B. If it does require a tune, where around the Southern MD, DC Area can i get this tune? thanks guys.

ANybody have this air intake? How has it performed tune/no tune?

Read this thread on the AEM... Doug of Bamachips ( http://www.bamachips.com/ )did a dyno... showed no real gains. He also has tunes for the intake, which didn't produce any more power than his regular tunes. It's a beautiful looking intake though. It doesn't require a tune.

if thats the case, what is the best intake to get for the money....also i can't remember does anyone know how much sct xcal2 tuner is with tunes by lidio from alternative auto?...also i know that exhaust does tend to help increase the hp gains with the intake at least thats always been the word on the street?

I'm rather partial to the C&L intake and X-cal tunes from Doug at Bamachips. He sells a package for around $650 I believe.

As for exhaust... any high flow muffler is going to help. JBA, Ford Racing (Borla) or Magnaflow or some great choices.

Doug has some fantastic customer service. When I've upgraded, he sent me new tunes files for free.
