Default ? Regarding Headers

I was wondering if headers would really be worth the money. People tell me that I should now that I have the nitrous. But im not sure if they would do that much for how much they cost. What kind would you go with, short tube or long tube?

rygen told me to get long tube headers with cats. I live in Jersey so it is illegal to not have a catalytic converter on the car.... also... he said in terms of performance itll add about 5 hp and affect the sound of your exhaust... this might not help you.... but ill probably be going with the MAC long tube headers for around $229

If I get long tube headers, could I just use the cats I already have? What is the difference between long tube and short tube in terms of performance and sound?

jba headers and an axle-back have been shown to have a 17 rwhp gain in some magazine (don't recall which one). The headers are fantastic and really bring out the sound, plus quicker revs.

Check out this thread... you can hear the headers and duals at work on the viddies...

headers on your stock car aren't going to be worth much, the stock headers aren't that bad

however, you are running nitrous, and as mentioned already, headers don't do much UNLESS you are running some really big power...

What is nitrous? Big Power? I think so... (unless you're shooting a 25 shot)

So, yes, headers will probably help you a decent amount. With the Nitrous, you're generating MUCH more exhaust (because you're causing bigger explosions). That extra exhaust will create more of a backpressure, and in turn rob your engine of a bit of power. Good headers and high-flow cats will reduce this.

If you're replacing the headers, you might as well replace the cats with high flow versions.

If you go this route, you won't see much power gain under normal driving (maybe a little, but not a whole lot)...
This major improvements will be seen while you're on the juice.

From what i understand, the stock 05 cat's ARE high flow. (although they are stock high flow)

I dont know the validity of that, but i saw it somewhere.

Do you know where I could find some high flow cats? Even though I wouldnt see much improvement in regular driving, the sound will be worth it. I just want some that will breathe a little bit better.
