Default Intro and question...

Hi. My name is Paul and I'm from Lafayette, Louisiana. I've been reading this forum since I bought
my 06 Mustang on Monday. This is my second Stang, the first I totaled when I was 19. Anyway,
I now have my second chance with a brand new beauty (I think my girlfriend is jealous). Ok, I am
a complete noob when it comes to performance, but I may be able to help out in case anyone needs
some car stereo know how.

Here's my dilema, I went to Meineke today to let them take a look at my car so they could put in
true duel 40 series Flowmasters with an h pipe. They told me they wouldn't do it because they
would have to run the exhaust too close to the fuel line. Also, he said a Mustang blew up b/c of this,
which i think is complete bs. I searched the forums and found nothing
on the topic. So was he just trying to get out of a little pipe bending or what?

Hi you doing Paul, Alberto here from Baton Rouge. Welcome.
Man that is complete BS from that statement about the car blowing up bc of that. You can safely install the exhaust and prevent anything from disturbing the fuel lines. Go somewhere else if you can.

Congrats on the car by the way.

Agreed. Many people on here are running duals safely on their v6's. I'm thinking the Meineke guy doesn't really know what he's talking about.

I put a JBA "H" pipe dual on mine last month, and had no problems. I even asked the guy doing it and he indicated it was a perfect fit. I second the motion to find another shop. Welcome aboard the forum, you're going to appreciate the feedback and friendly tips you get here.

Wow... thanks for the quick feedback. I thought the same thing, I can come up
with some pretty lame excuses too when i do not want to work on someone's car.
(I install car audio) I did see that the fuel line was ran right by where the pipes
would go over the rear axle, but i wasn't sure if the exhaust would cause as much
heat as he said it would. I told him to put some insulation over the fuel line... lol..
i am a noob at this.....

Hey Paul,

I'm from Lafayette Louisiana also. I just moved to Houston 3 months ago but lived in Lafayette for my whole life. How old r u? Do you have any pic's for your baby? What Highschool you went to? I sure miss that boudin from the Best Stop. Mann....

Anyway, hit me up. here is a pic of my baby.

Welcome to the forum.

Some comments on your exhaust, I got that story too. I even printed out pic's of the GT exhaust and showed them it was set up in the same fashion. I have learned something with exhaust shops, and simply put,

-Most of them are just plain lazy

Now you have some options on your exhaust to save costs, and simplify install. As follows:

-GT take off mid pipe with mufflers of your choice (this is the most cost effictive choice of the bunch, several have done it)
-Kit (JBA, Magnaflow and MAC...and Flowmaster soon as well)

Also, a few questions:

1. Is your goal performance? - If so go with an X pipe
2. Is your goal sound? - If so go with a prochamber or H pipe

As far as sound goes, you have to pick what sounds good to you and no one else. My car is actually in the shop right now getting some major performance work done and a x pipe install, but if you want to hear the stock magnaflow kit, hit this link and click on stage two:

http://www.rygen.net/stang

Now, I love the sound of JBA's, the H pipe and headers. I'm sure Hammy can chime in on this one. I have heard horror stories on the MAC kit. Just surf around and check it out. Also, take it from someone that's been there, take your time selecting mods. I rushed and had to pay out of pocket cause I went with the wrong installer.

Glad to have you here.

Cheers!!!

rygenstormlocke: I am mainly going for the sound because from what I read,
there isn't much of a performance gain. This is why I elected to go with the
H pipe. I had flowmasters on my 01 Mustang so I was going to go with
them again because i liked the sound. My favorite part of the day was
starting up my car. lol... And thanks for the info.

Jroth: Another Louisianian... lol... Im origninally from Houma, I moved here
to go to ULL. I never tried the Best Stop yet, but i do like the Boudin from
Comeaux's... a lot better than anywhere in Houma. I am 23 and about to
graduate in business management. It's been a long five yearsm but its my
last semester. I do have a pic of my car, just don't know how to post it yet.

And to everyone, else thanks for your comments...
