Default '07 V6 Mustang Specs(ulation)

This may be old news.

I've read that the 07 Ford Edge will have a 250HP V6 in it. I'll make a prediction that year's v6 stang will have the same if not better powerplant. While driving home the other day, I live quite close to the proving grounds, I saw this blue coupe with no GT markings at all and the V6 tail badge on it with dual exhaust on it. No, this was not someone's mod'ed stang, it had manufacturer plates on it.

Either Ford is hiding GT powertrain mods in a non-GT body or they are gonna produce a V6 with the nicey's that it should have had for the get go (250+hp, dual exhaust, maybe performance (aka GT) suspension)

I did take a pic with what I could grab (cell phone) but the pics were crappy.

The new 3.5 boasts 250-horsepower at an estimated 6,250 rpm and 240 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm, and comes mated to a front-drive configured in-house developed six-speed automatic - not the Aisin-derived six-speed auto currently used by the Five Hundred, Fusion, Mercury Montego and Lincoln Zephyr - but more on that in a minute. The engine is a 60-degree V, comprised of an aluminum block and heads, 4-valves per cylinder and DOHC technology, of course, plus intake variable camshaft timing.

"Our new (24-valve, DOHC) 3.5-liter V6 is a key component in Fords global powertrain strategy, which is to provide what customers want, when they want it," commented Barb Samardzich, Ford vice president of Powertrain Operations. "This powertrain is an innovative solution to answering the call for better fuel efficiency, more refinement, more power and clean emissions, without any sacrifices."

A number of high-tech goodies make the new 3.5-liter V6 stand out in its class, such as cracked-powder metal connecting rods, a composite split plenum intake manifold, an electronic throttle body, high temperature cast aluminum pistons with low-friction coated skirts and low-tension rings, shimless bucket tappets, centrally located spark plugs, and more.

Ford confidently claims its high compression 3.5 is extremely smooth-running thanks to a low vibration valve-train, for one, plus reduced powertrain bending, a high-tech term for engine block stiffness, the result of a high pressure die casting method. It reportedly delivers great off-the-line acceleration and more than enough power during passing maneuvers. Fuel economy and emissions concerns have been addressed also, with special attention paid to reducing toxins during cold startup.

i thought the pony package on the 06s added GT wheels and suspention along with the lights? i doubt it will put out 250 without boosting the numbers on the GT, even though there will still be people who say V-8 or nothing

Ok I have been closely researching what’s going to be new 2007 regarding the Mustang, I have nothing on the 6 but I have heard that 3.5 maybe 2008. But there is news on the GT the above is supposed come out as the GT/CS and there is supposed to be a Mach 1 for sure coming out later this year on a good source. New interior velour, headed seats side scoops, hood scoop, now for the rumors 4.6 to get 20-30 more HP, a new 4.6 350HP, a 5.4 N/A for the Mach 1. I think there’s more (I have to check) but this all I can recall from memory.

The pony package doesn't have dual exhaust! The stang I saw had duals and it definitely did not have the GT markings and where on it. The grill was plain, the front quarters were blank, and the trunk badge was defintely pony.

Here's the crappy pic from my phone. You can make out the left exhaust tip and notice behind the front left tire? No GT badging.

Almost forgot, it had manufacturer plates on it.

so whats the consensus should i wait for the 2007 with dual exhaust (which should have come standard in the first place, sunfires have them, not true dual exhaust but still) and the new 3.5 V6 with 250 hp. There would probably be what like a .4 second gain to 60 (at most, I know its a lot but in day to day driving is it really matter). and when do 2007 models come out?

I'd say if you can get one now why wait. By the time you get the 07, there be something better in the pipeline anyways. Every year has to be better than the previous. That's how cars or anything else for that matter are sold.

You can always mod it when you get it.

i most likely can get one end summer, and wondering when 07 comes out, like what winter? and it does look much better with dual exhaust. gm seems to understand this because most of their cars have them, mostly for looks not for functionality. i have an 04 grandprix in which iam referring to.
