Default Swaybar Question

Does anyone know how much bigger the front swaybar is on a GT vs a V-6, and do you think that it would worth it to change to a GT's bar. Also will it bolt straight on? Thanks All

NO ideas huh....ok consider this in front bars are $29.00 at saleen.....now do you think it would be worth it?

They are bigger, not sure by how much. Yes, direct bolt on. I got mine from Saleen. I got a rear GT 'vert bar at the same time. Had to pay full price for that one though.

Just got my GT sway bar in today with bullit rims from saleen, it is definitely bigger can't say how much now since the V6 is still on the car and I just got home from work. Direct bolt and a steal for $30.00 from Saleen. Wish they replaced the GT rear sway bars.

The GT's swaybar is larger and stiffer than the V6. By swapping the front swaybars without a compatible rear swaybar you'll be increasing the understeer of the car. I believe the stock GT swaybar is 34mm tubular front and 20mm solid rear.

You'll definitely want to add the GT rear sway, I drove mine after putting the GT front on from Saleen and it was a little more squirrely in the back end. Then after installing the GT rear, it drove fantastic! Concerning the size difference between the stock front and GT front, I read on one of the posts that the GT bar is solid while the V6 is hollow. That's how come the GT is stiffer. I can't verify this, but maybe someone else recalls this.

The Saleen bar has all you need to bolt on to your V6. I did it last week. A factory bar is $150.00.
The factory front and rear bar is an easy install and should be put on if you upgrade the front. Ford parts
numbers for the rear bar follow:

Rear Stabilizer Bar with 2 bar links and stabilizer end bushings included
-Part # 6R3Z5A772A Price $155.38

Chassis to Bar Link Bolt- 2 required-Part # W708737S439 Price $ 1.39 ea Torque to 85 lb-ft

Chassis to Bar Link Nut with clip - 2 Required-Part # W711029s900 Price $4.88 ea

U-shaped Bracket - 2 Required-Part # 4R3Z5486AA Price $14.28 ea

Bar End Bolts with clip - 4 Required- Part # W707007S439 Price $5.36 ea

Bracket Nuts - 4 Required- Part # W520213S440 Price $2.16 ea Torque to 52 lb-ft

As far as I recall, both front bars are tubular, with the standard V6's being 28.6mm and the GT's 34mm (that sure doesn't sound like a lot until you've seen the side by side)
The rear bar is solid at 20mm on the GT and 2006 Pony package V6

The stock V6 front bar seems to get along ok with the rear bar, though the GT bar is highly preferable, and dirt cheap from Saleen....

The GT front bar with no rear bar should be considered looking for trouble as Bluestang6 and 05 Cayuse noted

Part numbers for bolts and nuts WITH torque specs in ONE POST!!! This one ought to get a "sticky" or something!!!
