Default Best Winter Tire?

What would you recommend for Winter tires? I have an extra set of 17x8" silver Bullitts, and I'm leaning towards the Pirelli Winter 210 SnowSport or Michelin Alpin PA (I may have that name wrong). I live in Delaware, and most winter driving is on dry roads, not snow. I want to run winter tires all winter (I think the Blizzaks will wear out too quickly on dry roads).

Also, if I buy a set a tires from Tire Rack, can I pick them up at the local warehouse (in Newark, DE) rather than having them shipped a whole 5 miles?

TIA!

Hello

We do not have a retail license in DE so we only ship from that location.

A performance winter tire would be best for you on dry roads and won't wear as quickly. The dunlop winter sports and blizzak LM series tires have been the most popular.

Take a look at this. It is a collection of survey results by tire category and model.

Thanks for the link to that graph. Very cool to see the side-by-side comparisons. Nice to have you here @ MF, btw...

Hi, I live in upstate NY. I haven't lived here before, but I suspect we'll get some snow and have some driving on wet and snowy roads. I've heard they salt the roads heavily here. It is also very hilly around Ithaca.

Which tires do you recommend? I thought I'd just switch tires on my 16" rims if I can avoid bying new rims.

Thanks!

What tire size do you have? What is the year of your car?

Sorry, that was a stupid thing to forget.

I have a 2005 4.0L with stock summer tires; 215/65R16.

Thanks!

You could go with a performance snow tire like the dunlop winter sport 3d or a standard snow tire like the blizzak revo 1.

The difference being the performance tire will give you better dry/wet road handling and the standard snow will give you better snow and ice traction.

Thanks, man. Went for the Revo 1, and the forecast says snow tomorrow or during the weekend, so now we'll just have to wait and see how that works out!
