1999 Mustang- What size?
22s is the largest rims you can fit on there, but let me expalin a little first. When plus sizing rims and tires, the tire is the largest part of the combination is the tire, not the rim, so you typically work backwards and find out if a tire exits that is the same diameter as your stock tire. For example lets say we are talking about a stock 245 45 17. it has an overall diameter of approx. 25.7" so any tire weather it fits a 12" rim or 22" rim that is also approx. 25.7" will fit your car. You are not just putting on a rim, you are putting on a rim AND tire and since the tire is always bigger than the rim its the tire size you need to check on first and if they make a tire in 17, 18, 20, 22 that fits your car then you can pick out a rim. Now that being said. we all know that 99.9% of cars on the road can fit a tire that is larger than the stock tire. For example, a 245 45 17 is approx. 25.7" as stated above, but a 245 30 22 is approx. 27.8" which is just a little more than 2" too big for what the car "should" have. Typically you can go 1" larger in tire diameter on cars and as much as 3" larger in diameter on most trucks and SUVs. In the case of your 99 stang they do not make a 22" tire for the front that is small enough to put on there without the fear of rubbing since the front is your steering area and has moving parts, but the rear is a different story, since the rear does not turn at all, all you have to worry about is how much room you have in the fenderwell area. in this case you have enough room for a 285 25 22. in the front you can do a 255 35 20. So if you wanted to put the biggest set up you can on there you can do a 20x9 up front with a 255 35 20 and a 22x10.5 in the rear with a 285 25 22. we just did one last week for a guy in Austrailia of all places. He promised to send pics when he got them put on but only about 1 in 20 of our customers actually do send us pics. So i am not gonna hold my breath. If he does send them i will certainly post them up for everyone to see. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
