Default good traction?

I have an 08 gt and im thinking about getting a set of tires. I have no idea what brand of tires to get, i just want something that will stick. I have been thinking about drag radials but my car is a DD, so im not sure if i want a tire that wears that fast. What are a good set of street tires thatmightcome closeto drag radials traction?

You need to decide what your needs are from a tire, specifically, and then your budget.

You say DD, which is fine, but you want traction. Do you want to launch well off the line or hit the twisties? What kind of mileage do you want/expect from a set of tires? Having a stick in yourStang and running aGSXR 1000 on off days, I figure you like to go fast and take corners... am I correct?

Give us a budget, your wheel dimensions, your ride comfort considerations and will be happy to help you out

I want tires that will give me a good launch, and something that is gonna stick if i decide to throw it down. I am thinking about 285-295/35/18 for the rear. I also plan on having a supercharger installed fairly soon so i need something that can handle ~450rwhp. I know tire wear will depend on my driving habits, but i would like tires that would last longer than 6months-1year. So far i haveput about 6k miles on in 7-8 months . I usually drive fairly conservative except for track days (maybe 1 a month) and the occasional streetrace on weekends.

Sounds like you are in the market for some semi-slicks. OK, next question, since you are in the market for high quality tires. Are you willing to pick up a second set of rims so you can have Summer/track set-up?

This is what I am in the process of doing right now. I have ordered an additional set of wheels that will have a set of Toyo R888's on them. These tires are extremely sticky, extremely responsive in cornering and very expensive. I am hoping to get around 8K out of them before needing replacement. This is an extreme tire for cornering and stopping. They have a VERY stiff sidewall, so would not be so great for launching. They also are dangerous in standing water and puddles if you are turning at the time.

I might recommendthe Nitto NT555R which seems to fit your needs as described. Should be less expensive, still have wonderful traction and more flexable so better for launching. They will be better in the puddles and heavy rain departmentas well. Not as necessary to have a second set of wheels to run them, but if you drive your car year-round, would be nice to have higher mileage tire for winter and not wear these out so fast.

Price them out and see how they might fit your budget and your needs.

Thanks for the help. I plan on getting new wheels but i cant seem to decide on a style lol, and i will have the stock wheel/tires for winter. I really like the look of the Nittos and will do some research on them. What is the widest tire i can get on an 08 gt with 18s without have any issues?

Look a couple posts back and will find someone wanting 315's on his car. He is currently running 10' with 305/35/20's. I think the 315/30~35/18's will work and have good clearance. You can contact Mickey at Hardcore Mustangs (site sponsor) and hook you up with a nice set of Saleen replicas like I have and will look (.)(.)'s
