Question Some help please.....

Alright here's my delimma. I'm not really a wheel and tire guy. Never really took the time to understand it. I own a 1990 Mustang GT. It's lowered with 17'' rims and low profile tires right now. I'm looking at getting a different set of tire and rims for the winter, and I know someone that will give me some 14'' steel wheels. the stock tire size for the car is 225/60 15. If I took the rims and just bought tires what size would they need to be to make sure everything clears and is still driveable?? Any information would greatly help.

Well, a '90 LX model had 195/75/14"s. So the only issue with fitment on a GT would be possibly larger brakes. I had an '85 GT and recall the brakes to be pretty small, but this NEEDS to be confirmed prior to attempting 14" wheels.

I need more information to tell you if they would fit:

1. How wide are the wheels? > 7" would be fine
2. What is the off-set of wheels? > between 0 & -22mm would be fine
3. What is the bolt pattern of the wheels? > 4x108mm
4. What is diameter of snow tire? > 25.6" is stock tire diameter

Can you borrow the wheels and see if they fit OK? This would confirm if the rim will clear the brake calipers/rotors. You could then compare the back-space of current wheels with the new 14" ones. Go ***HERE*** to see how this is done and let us know what you find.

We need information.....IN formation
