Well I had to take the 16s off about 2 months ago due to wear on the front tires. Now the Veterans day parade is coming up in 2 days and I want to put them back on. Going to look for tires tomorrow. It had 205/60s on the front and they banged up the fenders. If they don't have that size tire could I go 215/60, or would that make the situation worse?

215's will make the situation worse, as they are wider/taller than previous ones.

Depending on where you were rubbing, you should go lower profile. If the tire was "catching" the fender, you likely have a diameter issue (possibly off-set) and have a couple options here. First is to roll the fenders out of the way. This can be tricky if you are not familiar with how to do so. Second is to go 50 series tires, if possible.

Are we talkin' the Pony wheels in your sig were rubbing? Your car likely came with 14" wheels and 185/75/14"s. That tire is 25" diameter, so in this case, you would have an off-set issue.
185/75/14": 25" diameter
205/60/16": 25.7" diameter
205/50/16": 24.1" diameter

This means you would have about 3/4" additional clearance between the tire and obstructions to the surface of the tires. Will this much additional clerance avoid the fender? Keep in mind, smaller/larger wheels will create inacuracy in your speedometer.

Yes they are the pony wheels. We got the 205/60 size. I also have the car dropped 1" (shelby drop) and that style drop pushes the UCAs out more. Then I also have a 1" spacer on front and rear.

There's your problem.

I don't understand the drop causing the UCA to go outward???, the LCA's yes. I don't know much about suspension on the older Stangs, so maybe I am just under edumacated

Anyway, does it rub on the inside or outside of tires and where exactly? Pics? You may be able to go less spacer (good idea reguardless, IMO) and move tires away from fenders.

I think the fenders are so banged up they don't hit anymore. Now the back is a different story. I have 235/60 there. I can't have more than 2 people in the car without them rubbing. Before we rolled them the fenders actually cut the tires. Now I would have a problem with the smaller spacer. My spacer is also the wheel adapter enabling me to put these rims on.

Shelby drop : Take off UCA use a template that lowers the holes 1" and replace UCA to new holes. This causes the UCA to move outward, by moving it down.

OK, I see. What is the reason for the "Shelby drop"? Is there an issue with suspension geometry that is corrected by this action? Anyway, as for the wheel adapters, I think they are a bad way to go, IMO...sorry

I recommend you purchase some wheels with the proper bolt pattern and off-set to move the wheels to the proper location. You could also go the expensive, but best route, and upgrade to 4 wheel disc with 5x4.5" pattern so you would have much choices on wheels. I know that can use existing specs and Centerline will build a wheel to your car as it is now.

I think this is a safer and better way to go than spacers you are currently using.
