Default overtightening lugnuts?

I was at the track today and long story short I had a problem with my rear end and one the things I wanted to check were my lugnuts. I didn't bring a torque wrench with me today so I went around the trailers of some of the pro drag racers (ones who look like they towed their garage over with them to the track) to see if anyone had a torque wrench I could borrow. I found a guy who did and he had an electronic one. I've never used one before but figured it was self explainatory.

I turned it on and I selected the UP button until I reached 100 lb/ft and I tried to torque my lugnuts...I heard a beep but no click so I kept going and going and until I worked some of the lugs until like 185 lb/ft and then figured something was wrong. I went back to the guy and said thanks and I set it to 100 but I heard no click and he said it's audiable and that it would beep when I reach that rating.

So when I got home I basically realized I WAY overtightened the nuts. I just went downstairs and used my torque wrench to loosen all of them and retorque it to 100 lb/ft as usual. I've heard stories of dangers from overtightening and now I am kinda worried I may have damged something and my studs could suddenly fall off on the road and my wheel would come loose lol

What are the chances I have something to worry about?

Thanks,
Brandon

The studs are hardened steel, so if you cracked or broke one, it would fall/break off immediately. I never use a torque-wrench on my wheels personally, but check them pretty regularly.

If I am heading to the races, I usually just call this guy to tighten them for me:

For that short time spand you should be ok....but dude, use a torque wrench the next time, or just get them hand tight until you can torque them....I use 95 ft/#'s on all my cars!
